Issa Asad to Entrepreneurs: Don’t Have These 3 Traits

Certain traits can slow down or kill the growth of your business if you do not work them out early enough. “A focused entrepreneur should be able to do a self-diagnosis and determine whether they possess the wrong character traits, which can be destructive in the long run,” said Issa Asad Florida businessman, entrepreneur, and social media expert. Mr. Asad is also the CEO of 2 companies, including Quadrant Holdings and Q Link Wireless, located in South Florida.

Do you know whether you have certain traits that can kill your business? Here’s Issa Asad to entrepreneurs: don’t have these 3 traits.

1. The Know-It-All

People with this trait prefer to trust their gut instinct instead of using calculated facts whenever they want to make a move.

While it is a great thing to have that amount of self-confidence (leaders are made of this), you cannot base all your decisions in business on hunches, regardless of matter how many times you have gotten it right in the past. A great entrepreneur is like a sponge, so to speak. You should be eager to absorb every bit of helpful knowledge you can find.

The world of business is a versatile world. You might find that a few years from now, your customer retention skills are outdated or that the current trends require you to redefine your business. It is important to be ready to learn. The know-it-all attitude has proven fatal for many businesses especially when it is tinged with a bit of pride. Never be afraid to seek out your successful counterparts and ask for advice, learn from their mistakes and know exactly how they made it to where they are presently.

2. The Planner

We are all familiar with the planner. The planner enjoys collecting data and learning about ways he/she can make the business more successful while not really putting any of his/her plans to action. It is easy to see how planners never really get anywhere: they never get started.

Planning is an integral part of starting and growing any business. Having a vision of where you want to be in the next five years or how much you want to achieve by that time is a great thing to have as an entrepreneur. However, it serves your business best if you live in the present. Perfectionism is the fatal flaw most planners suffer from as they wait for the “right” time to implement their ideas.

Business relies a bit on spontaneity. Some opportunities are scarce and once they present themselves, a good entrepreneur should be ready to pounce even if they do not have a clear picture of the outcome. Stalling and waiting for the perfect time to launch or market is just letting your business collect cobwebs for no apparent reason.

3. The Optimist

The optimistic trait in business is probably the hardest to diagnose. They will be confident that their outdated marketing techniques still work or that the business will stay afloat simply because they work hard enough.

The dreamer lives in a world devoid of reality and as such, you will find that they rarely research about any venture they undertake. They can start a business without really knowing whether there is sufficient market out there or whether they can gather adequate resources to start the business. The reality-avoider’s problem can be solved simply by seeking facts. Run surveys among your customers and see for yourself the extent of your success in the business. In essence, optimists need to step out of their perfect worlds and step out into the harsh reality of business.

Becoming a successful entrepreneur requires you to be fully self-aware. In the same way that you recognize your strengths, you should also be able to realize your weaknesses and work on getting rid of them.
