Salvatore Defranco got involved in a hit-and-run accident in 2008 as we were preparing to go with him to Iraq with the SEAL Team 3. This accident left him in a coma for several weeks. After his recovery, Defranco together with his wife Diana founded Battle Grounds Coffee in 2016. The idea of the business is to serve locals with high-quality coffee and showing the country the important service to humanity. The company does this by giving back to the veteran community. Their hiring policy mainly gives priority to the vets. This leading political, cultural and commercial centre for the locals in Haverhill, Mass is looking for more sites to build more stores and expand its services. This would also mean increasing its workforce from the current 20 employees it.

This business was found by Eric Mitchell who was a former marine. This retired veteran had a passion and desire to elevate the veteran community. Derek Sisson, a former recon marine and an entrepreneur has successfully managed to establish his brand in the liquor industry.
