Facebook Phone Release Date Set for 2013?

Standard

Amidst a lot of debate on the slow Facebook app for iPhone and the way Facebook has not yet made the shift to mobile marketing and revenue generation, fresh rumors from Bloomberg indicate that Facebook could actually be releasing its hyped phone by 2013.facebookphone

Bloomberg says:

“Former Apple staff hired by Facebook to work on mobile are: Greg Novick, who helped develop the touch-screen user interface; Tim Omernick and Chris Tremblay, who also worked on the device’s software; and Scott Goodson, who helped create the stock-market application, according to people with knowledge of the hires.”

With such hires, Facebook is certainly looking for a complete mobile phone experience for its users.

The Mobile Revenue System
Facebook, ever since it hit the IPOs, has been working on shifting to the mobile platform in a more organized and productive manner.

Many experts and analysts have repeatedly pointed out that Facebook has been missing out on mobile revenues by a big margin. Of the several billions generated this year, none of them came from mobile revenues.

The Facebook Mobile app for iPhone has also seen many revamps but users have been consistently pointing out flaws, drawbacks and slow responses on the app.

Facebook has decided to revamp the iPhone app completely – building from ground-up, yet again. Needless to say, the ex-Apple employee hires are possibly aimed at getting this done, along with the mobile ad system which would increase the revenues drastically.
The Facebook phone release date, for the moment would be anytime in 2013 but then again, these are reports based on current trends. There is no saying how things can shape up in a few months from now but so far, it appears to be a safe bet to predict a Facebook phone release date in 2013.
