Are you fed up of carrying around a wallet that is stuffed with business cards all the time? What do you think about transferring contact details from business cards to your smart device, by just taking snaps of them? Yes, that is now possible with a new app named WorldCard Mobile. The app scans your biz cards using its Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, recognizes the details and saves them to your contacts in your smart device.
What’s the app about?
WorldCard Mobile is a useful business application that serves the purpose of a card holder by carrying all details of your business contacts wherever you go. You can take a snap of a business card with the iPhone’s camera and the app recognizes the information and sorts it out into the respective fields like name of the company, phone number(s), email id etc. The app assists you in organizing and managing your mobile contacts for easy access.
How does the app work?
Tap open the app and select the camera option to take a picture of a business card or select a photo from the gallery. The app scans the image immediately and the details are now saved in the respective fields in your mobile’s contacts. You can add or delete any information according to your convenience after or before saving the business card. WorldCard Mobile can also capture email signatures and add them to contact details.
Special features of the app:
The most beneficial part of the app is that it recognizes over 16 languages like French, German, Italian, Spanish and much more. You can merge new details with existing business card details and share contact details through mail too. WorldCard Mobile lets you share or backup contacts through cloud services (iCloud/Drop Box) which helps in managing contacts from any part of the world.
It has a Card Holder option to help you navigate through your list of contacts quickly and make searches easily. You can use this option to make calls, send texts (SMS) and connect with contacts via social media. Using the WorldCard Mobile app, you can sync your WorldCard contacts and Google Contacts and access them simultaneously through the same app.
Even though the app provides great functionality, it is not always very accurate in recognizing the contact details and email signatures from images. The cost of the app could be reduced in future to benefit more users.
WorldCard Mobile costs $6.99 and requires iOS 4.3 or later
